Since opening in November, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in Roslyn has quickly become a popular destination, attracting a steady stream of customers even in the midst of a cold winter. While the outside temperature may be frigid, the ice cream shop’s warm ambiance—highlighted by bright lights and vibrant yellow walls—offers a cheerful, summer-like atmosphere all year round.
This Roslyn location marks the second Van Leeuwen Ice Cream shop on Long Island, following the success of their Roosevelt Field Mall location, which opened last summer. As part of a larger expansion effort, Van Leeuwen has also increased its presence outside urban areas, with its signature tubs of ice cream now available at major grocery retailers like Whole Foods, Target, and Stop & Shop.
The shop features a variety of classic and seasonal flavors. This winter, customers can enjoy limited-time options such as dulce de leche caramel truffle, peppermint stick, and strawberry matcha latte. Other popular choices include marionberry cheesecake honeycomb, cookies & cream, and Earl Grey tea. Additionally, Van Leeuwen offers a selection of vegan options, such as peanut butter brownie honeycomb and strawberry shortcake.
The store’s inviting atmosphere is further enhanced by a playful mural created by NYC-based artist Jon Burgerman. The mural, located next to the register, features colorful ice cream scoops with unique, expressive faces. At the front door, a neon sign displays the brand’s motto: “A life without anything good is bad.”
In addition to scoops, Van Leeuwen offers packaged pints and themed merchandise like t-shirts for customers to purchase. Prices for a single-flavor cup start at $7.45, with prices increasing based on the number of flavors chosen. Milkshakes are priced at $10.95, and larger to-go cups are available for $11.15.
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in Roslyn operates from noon to 10:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from noon to 11:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
