My Mochi has recalled its peach mango sorbet sold at major retailers, including Target and Wegmans, after discovering that pasteurized cooked egg white was used as an ingredient but was not listed on the label. This recall, which affects 1,350 cases of the frozen dessert, was announced by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier this week.
The undeclared egg allergen poses a potential risk for individuals with egg allergies, a common concern, especially among children. According to the Mayo Clinic, allergic reactions to eggs can range from mild symptoms like skin rashes and congestion to more severe issues such as anaphylaxis, which can constrict airways and make breathing difficult. In rare instances, the product has been linked to two reports of minor allergic reactions.
The peach mango sorbet was sold in a 7.5-ounce box containing six individual servings. The affected lot numbers are 337-24 and 341-24, and the product was available at approximately 100 Target stores and various supermarkets nationwide, including Wegmans. A spokesperson for My Mochi described the recall as “really small.”
Consumers who purchased the recalled product are advised to return it for a full refund.
