Salisbury University (SU) has joined forces with Island Creamery to craft a special ice cream flavor in celebration of the university’s 100th anniversary. The collaboration invites the public to participate in a unique contest to help decide the new flavor.
From now until April 1, members of the SU campus and the surrounding community are encouraged to submit their most creative ice cream flavor ideas and names through an online. Submissions will be reviewed, and the best flavors will be made in small batches for an exclusive tasting event set for this spring. The winning flavor will be featured at Island Creamery locations from September 2025 to May 2026, as part of SU’s Centennial celebration.
Jason Curtin, SU Vice President of Advancement and Centennial Chair, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “Island Creamery, located right next to SU, is a beloved spot for students and the campus community. Like the university, it has been an important part of the Delmarva Peninsula for years, and we’re thrilled to collaborate on this one-of-a-kind project.”
Kelly Conklin, owner of Island Creamery, echoed Curtin’s excitement, noting, “We’ve always prided ourselves on crafting unique, high-quality flavors that bring people together. This partnership with Salisbury University allows us to celebrate a major milestone in our shared community, and we look forward to seeing the inventive ideas from SU students, alumni, and the broader public.”
The contest offers participants a chance to leave their mark on SU’s history while also enjoying some sweet rewards. Finalists whose flavors are selected will receive an Island Creamery gift card.
Additional updates on SU’s Centennial events will be shared later this spring.
