Salisbury University (SU) and Island Creamery are collaborating to create a special ice cream flavor in honor of SU’s 100th anniversary, and the community is invited to take part in the exciting process.
The public can submit their most inventive ice cream flavor and name ideas through an online contest, running until Tuesday, April 1. To participate, submit entries at this link. The most creative flavor submissions will be selected for small-batch production, which will be showcased at an exclusive tasting event this spring. The winning flavor will be available at Island Creamery locations throughout the university’s Centennial celebration, from September 2025 to May 2026.
Jason Curtin, SU’s vice president of advancement and Centennial chair, expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting, “With a location adjacent to SU, Island Creamery is a favorite among students and other members of the university community. Like SU, its ice cream is a longstanding tradition on the Delmarva Peninsula, and we are thrilled to work together on this once-in-a-lifetime collaboration.”
Kelly Conklin, owner of Island Creamery, shared her enthusiasm for the project, saying, “Island Creamery has always been about crafting unique, high-quality flavors that bring people together. Partnering with Salisbury University to create a special Centennial flavor is an exciting opportunity to celebrate a milestone in our community.”
Whether participants come up with bold, innovative flavors or nostalgic options that reflect SU’s history, this contest offers a chance to leave a lasting mark on the university and the Eastern Shore. Finalists will also receive an Island Creamery gift card as a reward for their creativity.
