Good Vibes Ice Cream Shop & Soda Pop, the latest addition to DASH Hospitality’s Funwoody Village complex, will officially open its doors to the public on Thursday, March 6.
The new dessert shop replaces Bruster’s Ice Cream, a long-standing vendor at the location. David Abes of DASH Hospitality Group shared that Regency, the owner of the center, approached him with the idea for the space months before Bruster’s closed last November. “About six months ago, Regency said they were going to make a change and asked us if we wanted the space,” Abes said. “We weren’t thinking about it at all, but when they offered it to us, we said we would love it.”
Located at 5503 Chamblee-Dunwoody Rd., Good Vibes will offer a variety of ice cream, gourmet baked brownies, and hand-crafted sodas. The shop joins other DASH ventures in the Funwoody Village, including BAR{n}: Booze {n} Bites, Morty’s Meat & Supply, Message In A Bottle, and Yoffi ‘All Good’ Food Truck.
Abes expressed his excitement about the new venture, saying, “Every week, as guests hang out in the Village, we want our fifth concept, Good Vibes, to be the space where they can get that mid-day treat or come for an end-of-night celebration. We have already felt the excitement from the neighborhood about our family-friendly, retro ice cream and soda shop experience, and we can’t wait to take care of them just as we do over at the courtyard.”
Julie Abes, David’s wife and owner of the former Batter Cookie Dough Counter at Ponce City Market and Buckhead, will also bring back her popular egg-free, edible cookie dough. Available as both a scoop flavor and a topping, the chocolate chip dough will complement the ice cream offerings.
Good Vibes will operate from 3-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3-10 p.m. on Friday, 12-10 p.m. on Saturday, and 12-9 p.m. on Sunday. As the weather warms, extended hours are expected.
