The Scoop and Scootery, an ice cream shop known for delivering indulgent sundaes until 2 a.m., is slated to open in late spring on Thrift Road in Charlotte. The new shop aims to fill a gap in the city’s late-night food options, particularly for those craving sweet treats after hours.
Much like the popular Insomnia Cookies, which delivers cookies until 3 a.m., The Scoop and Scootery offers a late-night delivery service through platforms like DoorDash and Uber Eats, promising delivery within 25 minutes, according to Charlotte franchise owner Patrick Knorring.
The shop’s extensive menu includes more than 60 signature sundae options, with flavors like Campfire S’mores, Peanut Butter Oreo, and Blueberry Pie. Many sundaes feature indulgent “cores,” such as marshmallow fluff, Nutella, and cannoli cream. In addition to ice cream, frozen yogurt options like Cookie Dough, Moose Tracks, and French Vanilla are also available. Customers can customize their treats with toppings like pie crust, Rice Krispies, dough bites, M&Ms, or pretzels.
For those looking for more variety, The Scoop and Scootery also offers cookies, floats, and shakes. Knorring hints that exclusive Charlotte sundae flavors will be added in the future.
The Scoop and Scootery began as an ice cream truck in Massachusetts over a decade ago, and opened its first brick-and-mortar location in Arlington, MA in 2016. Today, the company operates three shops in the Boston area, with Charlotte marking its first foray into franchising.
Located at 2135 Thrift Road, between Pizza Baby West and The Coterie, the shop is part of a growing wave of businesses in west Charlotte, reflecting the area’s rapid development. The Scoop and Scootery is targeting an opening date of late May or early June, with operating hours from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays. The shop will be closed on Mondays.
