Southern Tier Brewing and Perry’s Ice Cream Unveil Cherry Pie Imperial Ale in Annual Collaboration

by Alice

Southern Tier Brewing Company, a leader in the craft beer industry, has once again teamed up with Perry’s Ice Cream for their annual collaboration, unveiling the Cherry Pie Imperial Ale. This year’s creation is inspired by Perry’s newest flavor, Cherry Pie Ice Cream, and marks the third consecutive year of the two regional powerhouses working together to craft unique, dessert-inspired brews.

Founded in 2002 in Lakewood, New York, Southern Tier has earned a reputation for bold, flavorful beers such as Pumking and Warlock. Just across the street, the Southern Tier Distilling Company produces spirits like bourbon, whiskey, vodka, and gin, along with ready-to-drink canned cocktails.

Meanwhile, Perry’s Ice Cream, a fourth-generation family-owned business based in Akron, New York, has been a staple in the Great Lakes region since 1918. The company is renowned for its premium ice cream, particularly its Cherry Pie flavor, which has served as the inspiration for the latest collaboration.

“We began with Perry’s signature Vanilla Scoop and expanded to Orange Twist last year. Now, we’re evolving with Cherry Pie, which mirrors both brands’ passion for innovation,” said Brandon Hank, Brand Manager at Southern Tier Brewing Company.

The Cherry Pie Imperial Ale is a bold, 8.6% ABV beer that fuses the indulgent flavors of cherry ice cream with tart cherries, sweet vanilla, and a biscuit-like finish. It reflects the essence of Perry’s Cherry Pie Ice Cream, which combines rich cherry ice cream with swirls of cherries and graham crackers. The beer is balanced by a smooth, imperial backbone that gives it a robust yet drinkable profile.

“The partnership with Southern Tier Brewing Company allows both brands to showcase their creativity in flavor innovation,” said Nichole Buryta, Senior Brand Manager at Perry’s Ice Cream. “The Cherry Pie Imperial Ale brings our Cherry Pie Ice Cream flavor to life in an exciting new format.”

Available on tap at Southern Tier’s five taproom locations, the limited-edition brew will also be available in retail outlets across New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and other Southern Tier markets starting in March. The beer can be found at major retailers such as Walmart, Wegmans Food Markets, Giant Eagle, Tops Markets, Sheetz, 7-Eleven, and more.

Southern Tier Brewing, which joined the Artisanal Brewing Company family in 2014, offers a one-of-a-kind craft beer experience at its locations in Lakewood, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Charlotte, NC. The collaboration with Perry’s Ice Cream further strengthens the bond between two of Upstate New York’s most beloved regional brands.
