A new ice cream flavor has arrived at Sweet Jenny’s in Williamsville with a meaningful purpose. Created by eighth-grader Hannah Koepsell, the flavor, named Hannah Strong, aims to raise awareness and funds for The Courage of Carly Fund, an organization dedicated to helping children battling cancer.
Hannah, who has been fighting leukemia for several years, has designed the flavor to reflect her personal favorites—vanilla ice cream with M&Ms and rainbow sprinkles. “It’s always been M&M or rainbow sprinkles for me,” said Hannah, who shared that vanilla ice cream is her favorite.
For each scoop of Hannah Strong sold, a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Courage of Carly Fund. This organization provides critical resources and organizes events for children undergoing cancer treatment.
“I attend a lot of their events and raise money to help them out,” Hannah explained. “It feels really good to be part of something so important.”
Hannah’s father, Jason Koepsell, described his daughter as having “one of the biggest hearts of anybody I’ve ever met.” He added, “She’s always looking to give back and help others, no matter what she’s going through.”
The community has been moved by Hannah’s resilience. Howard Cadmus, owner of Sweet Jenny’s, said, “This one hits my heart pretty close, just because I have a son close in age to Hannah. This could happen to anyone, and the way she has handled everything with such grace is extraordinary.”
Hannah Strong will be available at Sweet Jenny’s until the end of February. The shop is located on East Spring Street in Williamsville. For more details and hours of operation, customers can visit Sweet Jenny’s Facebook page. To follow Hannah’s journey, updates are available online as well.
“She’s full of life,” said her father, Jason. “We hope that when people try her ice cream, they see how strong and courageous she is and feel a little bit of that strength themselves.”
