The future of Amalfi Ice Cream and Coffee, a popular café in Dirleton, is in jeopardy following the submission of plans to convert the premises into a private residence.
Opened in 2018 on the village’s Main Road, the café has been a staple for locals and visitors, offering a variety of treats such as teas, coffees, ice cream, and sandwiches.
However, a recent planning application submitted to East Lothian Council seeks to change the café’s use, proposing to transform it into a private dwelling.
The plans, submitted by Robert Doris, outline the creation of two bedrooms, along with a living room, shower room, and kitchen within the building. The outcome of this application could determine the future of the well-loved establishment.
