BUFFALO, N.Y. — After nearly five years in operation, three Cookies & Cream ice cream shops in Buffalo are changing ownership once again, with the founder taking back control of the locations.
The ice cream chain originally launched in 2020 under Hook & Ladder Development, a company co-founded by Peter Scarcello and John Otto Jr. However, the partnership dissolved two years later when the two split their assets. Scarcello retained ownership of several properties along Seneca Street in South Buffalo, while Otto kept the ice cream business and went on to open Riverfield 865, a bar and restaurant located at 865 Elk Street.
Now, Scarcello is regaining control of the three Cookies & Cream ice cream shops across the city, signaling a new chapter for the business. The transition is amicable, and it marks the end of a brief period of shared ownership. Further details about the future direction of the ice cream shops under Scarcello’s leadership have yet to be revealed.
