The 2025 ALCAL Scoop Scoot, a fun-filled ice cream event, will take place on Friday, June 6, at 6 p.m. at William Land Park in Sacramento. This family-friendly event aims to raise funds for the UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department, which works to alleviate the anxiety associated with hospitalization, illness, and injury by enhancing children’s coping skills and supporting their emotional and developmental growth.
Participants in the Scoop Scoot will have the opportunity to walk or run around a one-mile loop within the park from 6 to 8 p.m. They can begin the event at their convenience. The registration fee covers a scoop of Leatherby’s Ice Cream, with flavors such as mint chocolate, cookie dough, or vanilla, and a topping of either Leatherby’s chocolate or caramel sauce. For adults 21 and older, the event also includes access to a courtesy beer garden.
“Scoop Scoot is a fantastic way to enjoy a warm June evening with plenty of ice cream and a strong sense of community,” said Diana Sundberg, manager of the UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department. “I’m incredibly thankful to the generous donors who continue to support this event, helping us provide essential play items for children in the hospital each year.”
Funds raised in previous Scoop Scoot events have supported the purchase of iPads, art supplies, toys, and other resources for pediatric patients at UC Davis Children’s Hospital.
Early registration for the event is available for $5 through May 26, after which the fee will increase to $10 starting May 27. For more information and to register, visit ScoopScoot.org.
