FALL CITY, Wash. — The streets of Fall City were filled with energy on April 5 as the town’s much-anticipated ice cream shop, Mooo!, celebrated its grand opening.
The shop, located in the heart of Fall City, kicked off its debut with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Carnation Chamber of Commerce. The store is owned by longtime Fall City residents Sharon and Larry Brown, who are joined by their five children and 14 grandchildren in running the business.
Larry Brown, known to locals as the town lawyer and founder of Brown & Sterling, decided to pursue his lifelong passion for ice cream as he prepares for retirement. “It just seemed like the right time,” he said.
Mooo! serves Olympic Mountain Ice Cream, a family-owned brand from Skokomish Valley that is already a staple in local restaurants. The shop offers 16 flavors, with six permanent options and rotating seasonal flavors. There will always be at least two dairy-free choices available.
In collaboration with Olympic Mountain, Mooo! features two custom flavors, including one with toasted coconut, almonds, and pecans, and another made with espresso from local Aroma Coffee Co. Customers can also vote for their favorite flavors on the shop’s website, moooicecream.com, helping shape the shop’s offerings.
“Our mission is to enhance and promote families and community,” said Brown, adding that the shop seeks to engage local residents in its decision-making process.
Brown’s commitment to the community is evident in his past work as president of the board of directors for the youth nonprofit Encompass NW. In a gesture of support, Mooo! will donate five cents of every sales dollar to Snoqualmie Valley charities that benefit children and youth.
The grand opening was a celebration for all ages, with visitors sporting T-shirts emblazoned with “Can yooo say mooo!?” Brown’s nephew serves as the shop’s general manager, while several of his grandchildren and their friends work at the store. “I think I’ve got staffing covered for the next 10 years with all these grandkids,” Brown joked.
The shop’s design features a playful, cow-themed aesthetic, including a black and white cow-spotted exterior and a life-sized cow statue atop the roof, which will be decorated for the holidays. During the grand opening, a mini cow from Kataluna Horse Rescue was also on hand for photos.
Originally considering the name Fall City Scoop, Brown had an epiphany one night and decided on Mooo!, a name that sparked both fun and excitement. “We can have so much fun with this,” he said.
The shop’s blend of family, community involvement, and delicious ice cream is sure to make Mooo! a beloved addition to Fall City.
