Convenience store chain GS25 announced on April 18 that sales of low-priced ice cream have jumped 50.8% compared to the same month last year. This surge marks a growing trend in affordable frozen treats, with low-priced ice cream now accounting for 19.1% of the store’s total ice cream sales.
Currently, GS25 offers around 20 types of low-sugar ice cream options, including products from the LabNosh low-sugar protein bar and pint lines, as well as the Lalasweet series. These products are especially popular among customers in their teens to 30s who are increasingly drawn to “Low Spec Food”—items that aim to maintain taste while reducing calories, sugar, and fat.
Lee Ju-yong, a merchandise director at GS Retail, said, “We are expanding our low-priced ice cream lineup in cooperation with LabNosh and other brands.”
