PATELEY BRIDGE – Excitement is brewing as a new addition to Pateley Bridge’s vibrant High Street prepares to welcome patrons starting tomorrow, March 29th. “Treats,” a charming ice cream parlour, is poised to open its doors, occupying the former space of Pateley Ice Treat.
Janet Chambers, the proprietor of Treats, shares her enthusiasm for this venture, which she and her husband undertook after the location sat dormant for over a year. Originally from Liverpool but residing in Harrogate for the past 50 years, Chambers is eager to infuse the local hospitality scene with a fresh energy.
Treats will offer a delectable array of treats, including Brymor ice cream, sumptuous ice cream sundaes, classic banana splits, and indulgent milkshakes. Catering to various dietary preferences, vegan ice cream and sorbets will also be on the menu, alongside tempting cakes. Chambers envisions expanding the offerings to include hot sandwiches and soups in the future.
Beyond serving up delicious treats, Chambers aims to foster community engagement by collaborating with neighboring businesses, such as the newly established bookshop in Pateley. She envisions hosting events tailored for both adults and children, enriching the local social fabric.
With a background in art and design, Chambers is keen to leverage her expertise by offering art classes and providing a venue for children’s parties, adding an extra dimension to the parlour’s offerings.
Although Chambers recently entertained the idea of participating in the BBC’s Great British Bake Off, her commitment to Treats took precedence, with her and her husband investing their savings into acquiring the parlour. Looking ahead, Chambers plans to rebrand the establishment as simply “Treats,” envisioning it as a haven where patrons can indulge themselves and their loved ones year-round.
The grand opening of Treats is scheduled for this Friday, March 30th, with operating hours set from 11am to 4pm, Friday through Monday. Additionally, the parlour will open on Tuesdays, weather permitting, ensuring ample opportunities for patrons to satisfy their sweet cravings.
