Unilever has issued a recall for five batches of its Magnum products following the discovery of metal fragments in the ice cream. The Food Standards Agency has subsequently issued a warning, advising consumers who have purchased the affected product not to consume it, as it poses a potential health risk.
The specific product in question is the Magnum Classic Chocolate Ice Cream sticks, available in the three-pack version. Unilever has disclosed that the presence of small metal particles in the product poses a potential hazard to consumers.
In response to the issue, Unilever has issued a product recall notice, identifying the affected batches by their pack size (3x100ml) and batch codes: L3324, L3325, L33326, L3327, and L3328. The affected ice creams have best-before dates up until November 2025. Consumers can locate the batch number and best-before information on the side of the product box, according to Unilever.
At present, the root cause of the contamination remains unknown, and the extent of affected products is yet to be determined.
A spokesperson from Unilever emphasized the company’s commitment to consumer safety, stating, “The safety of the people who buy and use our products is our number one priority.” As a precautionary measure, Magnum has initiated a voluntary recall of the limited batch of Magnum Classic Chocolate Ice Cream 3 x 100ml. Consumers are urged to contact the company’s careline team in the UK at 0800 678 1031 or in Ireland at 1800 444 420 for further assistance.
Unilever encourages consumers to heed the recall notice and to refrain from consuming the affected ice cream products until further guidance is provided.
