Bruster’s Ice Cream announced yesterday the temporary closure of its stores until the 20th of this month, citing a cold storage malfunction believed to be caused by recent and frequent power supply disruptions by Guyana Power and Light Inc (GPL).
In a notice addressed to its customers, staff, and the community, the company expressed regret over the closure and extended apologies to those affected.
“Regrettably, all Bruster’s Ice Cream locations in Guyana will be temporarily closed,” the notice stated. “Our sincere apologies go out to everyone affected by this closure.”
The company further explained, “Recently, we encountered a critical issue with our cold storage facilities. Unfortunately, this malfunction compromised our perishable inventory. We suspect that the prolonged erratic power supply in the area caused damage to our cold storage equipment, resulting in significant losses.”
