The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced recalls for several food products due to the presence of undeclared allergens. Among these recalls are Kowalski Simply Sides – Jack’s Potato Salad by Home Style Foods, Inc. based in Hamtramck, Michigan, as well as Ice Cream Sandwiches and Gelato by Belgian Yummies, located in Fort Myers, Florida.

These products were distributed in Michigan to 25 stores, including 21 Kroger locations, Diamond Dot Market, Holiday Market Royal Oak, Larry’s Foodland, and Tenuta’s Market. Belgian Yummies’ recall involves Ice Cream Sandwiches and Gelato containing undeclared allergens such as wheat, soy, egg, coconut, peanuts, and FD&C Yellow #5. The Ice Cream Sandwiches, available in flavors like Vanilla, Chocolate, Raspberry, Salted Caramel, Key Lime, Peanut Butter, Sofra (Vanilla and Chocolate), and Ria (Vanilla), come in 4-ounce clear plastic or gold packages marked with an expiration date of 08/31/2024. The recall was initiated after it was discovered during an inspection that the packaging did not reveal the presence of these allergens due to the use of outdated labels.
While no illnesses related to the recalled products have been reported, individuals with allergies or sensitivities to the undeclared allergens are advised to refrain from consuming them. Customers who have purchased the affected products are urged to dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
