Walnut Creek, CA—Ice cream aficionados in the Bay Area have reason to rejoice as the region’s inaugural Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream franchise has officially opened its doors.
Located at 1273 Locust St. in Walnut Creek, the newly minted Handel’s is the 46th establishment in California. In Northern California, Handel’s has already established a presence in Sacramento, Elk Grove, Roseville, and Folsom.
The grand opening of Handel’s in Walnut Creek on Thursday marked the sixth addition to the franchise’s roster nationwide this year and the third in April alone.
James Greene, the franchise owner, shared his enthusiasm, stating, “We chose Walnut Creek because we really wanted to give exposure to the entire East Bay. We feel like Walnut Creek is one of those places where everyone comes in and meets up. Build a brand that way.”
Since the start of the year, Handel’s has expanded its reach to Hendersonville, Tennessee; Stevenson Ranch, California; Clemson, South Carolina; Arlington, Texas; and Downington, Pennsylvania.
Handel’s storied history dates back to 1945 when Alice Handel opened the first-ever store in Youngstown, Ohio. Her dedication to using fresh fruit from her backyard garden and personal recipes set the foundation for Handel’s commitment to crafting homemade ice cream. Presently, Handel’s boasts a tantalizing selection of 48 flavors of homemade ice cream across its stores in 14 U.S. states, offering a diverse array of options for ice cream enthusiasts.
