GLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Fat Boys Ice Cream and Family Fun Plex, situated at 104 Freeman’s Bridge Road in Glenville, has permanently closed its doors. The business, which operated only during the 2023 season, did not reopen in 2024.
A sign posted outside the property reads: “Business Permanently Closed. 24 Hour Video Surveillance in Effect. Private Property – No Trespassing. Residence Occupied – Keep Out.” Additionally, the Fat Boys Ice Cream Facebook page has been deleted.
Owner Dan Maggs explained that the decision came after his business partner chose not to open this season due to commitments with other ventures. As a partnership, Maggs decided against running the business alone. “It is what it is,” said Maggs, reflecting on the closure. “Everything changes.”
Fat Boys Ice Cream and Family Fun Plex, which opened in June 2023 on the former Glenville Sportsplex property, featured mini-golf and a variety of treats including soft and hard ice cream, sundaes, milkshakes, flurries, and sherbet coolers.
Maggs also owns Freeman’s Bridge Wine & Liquor in Glenville. When asked about the future of Fat Boys Ice Cream and Family Fun Plex, Maggs hinted at potential changes ahead, stating, “You never know. Things are always changing.”
