Moo Thru to Open New Ice Cream Store in Herndon This Week

by Alice

Fans of Moo Thru ice cream will be delighted to know that a new store is set to open in Herndon on Friday. The store, located at 317 Spring St., has been in development for a year, with delays due to permit and construction issues, according to The Burn.

The grand opening will feature hours from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with plans to expand operating hours subsequently. A Moo Thru food truck has been serving customers at the site for the past year.

Moo Thru, founded by a fourth-generation Fauquier County dairy farmer in 2010, already has locations in Remington, Hillsboro, Winchester, Lake Anna, and Charlottesville. The ice cream is “handcrafted and slow churned in Remington,” as stated on their website.

The menu includes ice cream cones, shakes, sundaes, floats, and pints and quarts. June’s featured flavors are Ken’s Key Lime Pie and Moo Thru’s Birthday Cake.

Moo Thru is also participating in Round 1 of the 2024 NoVA Ice Cream Wars, where 32 local ice cream businesses compete. Voting for Round 1 closes at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 9.

In addition to the ice cream store, Moo Thru plans to open a coffee shop at the same Herndon location in the coming weeks.
