Amid this week’s sweltering temperatures, many Ohioans are flocking to their local ice cream parlors to beat the heat.
According to a recent Reader’s Digest list, a Northeast Ohio-based ice cream chain has been crowned the best in the state.
Reader’s Digest selected Mitchell’s Ice Cream, which originated in Westlake, as Ohio’s top ice cream spot. This recognition places Mitchell’s alongside other esteemed parlors nationwide, such as McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams in Santa Barbara, California, and Amy’s Ice Creams in Texas, known for its extensive array of over 1,000 flavors.
Visitors to Ohio City in the summer can attest to Mitchell’s popularity, often marked by long lines outside their location on W. 25th Street. Reader’s Digest praised the chain, stating, “For some local Buckeye flavor, Mitchell’s is the place to go, and you can even do a tour to find out exactly how they make the best ice cream in Ohio.”
Founders Pete and Mike Mitchell emphasize their commitment to the community, saying on the company’s website, “We take pleasure and pride in contributing to our Northeast Ohio communities and to the lives of Mitchells’ employees.”
Established in 1999, Mitchell’s Ice Cream now boasts nine locations in the area. To learn more about the chain and its variety of flavors, visit their website.
