PRP’s Ice Cream Corner, a beloved institution in south Louisville, is set to change hands as its founders announce their retirement after 15 years of operation.
In a social media announcement on Tuesday, co-owners Donnie and Jeff Huddleston expressed their intention to sell the business to new owners while ensuring the continuity of the ice cream tradition they’ve nurtured.
“We’ve got grandkids, kids, and after 15 years we’re ready to settle down,” said Donnie Huddleston, emphasizing their desire to see the business thrive under new ownership.
The community-supported shop, once an abandoned gas station on Greenwood Road, has become a local landmark known for its family-friendly atmosphere and quality ice cream. Over the years, it has served as a destination for school field trips and a starting point for many local teens’ first jobs.
“We’re going to make sure that it will stay here,” Donnie affirmed, pledging support to the new owners to ensure a seamless transition.
Despite their retirement plans, PRP’s Ice Cream Corner will continue operating under normal hours throughout the summer, welcoming faithful customers who appreciate its enduring charm and affordable treats.
