Oregon-Based Fruit-Blended Ice Cream Company to Open New Locations in Santa Cruz

An Oregon-based ice cream company is expanding its footprint to the Central Coast, selecting Santa Cruz for its second out-of-state location.

Nico’s Ice Cream, renowned for its “New Zealand-style” ice cream that combines traditional ice cream with real fruit, will soon open a new shop at 111 Locust Street in Santa Cruz. This announcement follows the company’s earlier decision to establish its first out-of-state location on Cannery Row in Monterey. Owner Nico Vergara has indicated that the Monterey location is expected to open within the next month.

According to KSBW 8, Vergara is targeting a two-and-a-half to three-month timeline for the Santa Cruz opening.
