WASHINGTON, D.C. – MoveOn Political Action is set to launch its highly anticipated “Scoop the Vote” tour on September 16, bringing free ice cream and voter engagement to key battleground states in an effort to mobilize voters for the upcoming election. The tour will feature a unique ice cream truck experience, with special guest appearances, free ice cream, and a focus on encouraging voter registration and turnout.
Sweetening the Deal with Ice Cream
The Scoop the Vote tour will kick off in Philadelphia on September 16, coinciding with the start of early voting in Pennsylvania. MoveOn has partnered with Ben & Jerry’s co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield to offer exclusive, limited-edition pints of “Kamala’s Coconut Jubilee,” a flavor inspired by Vice President Kamala Harris’ viral “coconut tree” remark. Attendees at the tour stops will have the chance to win autographed pints through a raffle.
In addition to Ben & Jerry’s, MoveOn is teaming up with other notable ice cream brands including Jeni’s Ice Creams and Malai Ice Cream. The tour will visit more than 20 cities in crucial swing states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Nevada, featuring local scoop shops and electorally-themed ice cream flavors. These flavors include:
“Unburdened by What has Vanilla Bean”
“Inauguration Celebration Birthday Cake”
“Fight For Our Rights Sorbet”
“MoveOn Mobilizer Milk Chocolate”
Mobilizing Voters
The main objective of the tour is to engage and mobilize voters for the November elections. At each stop, MoveOn will assist attendees in creating a plan to vote by November 5 and provide resources to help them encourage friends and family to participate in the election.
“Excitement and joy are on our side right now, but we cannot lose sight of how close this election will be. A few thousand votes will decide whether we live under a democracy with Kamala Harris or a dictatorship with Donald Trump,” stated Rahna Epting, MoveOn Political Action Executive Director. “MoveOn’s Scoop the Vote Ice Cream Truck Tour will meet voters where they are and help mobilize our communities to defeat Trump once and for all this fall.”
Statements from Ben & Jerry’s
Ben Cohen, co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s, emphasized the importance of voting: “You can lick and say you care all you want, but if you’re not going for the big scoop— to get registered and vote— at the end of the day, all you’ve got is some drips down your shirt. Go big. Scoop the vote.”
Jerry Greenfield, also a co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s, expressed support for the initiative: “We love ice cream and we love MoveOn—because MoveOn’s members are always working hard for the change we care about. MoveOn members are tireless—so if we can help make the hard work of improving our country a little sweeter, why not?”
