MADISON, WI – Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream, a staple of southern Wisconsin, is calling on ice cream enthusiasts to help choose its next big flavor. With over 70 current offerings, including fan favorites like Blue Moon and Exhausted Parent, the Madison-based ice cream shop is inviting the public to vote for their favorite from three exciting finalists in their annual “Create A Flavor” Contest.
Finalists Revealed
From August 16 to September 13, the Chocolate Shoppe hosted its annual contest, encouraging locals and online participants to submit their flavor ideas. Last year’s winner, Ube Chai, a blend of sweet purple yam and spiced chai, delighted customers this summer. This year, the competition has yielded three standout contenders:
Apple Cider Doughnut (by Jack): A delicious combination of apple cider ice cream with a crunchy cinnamon sugar crumble swirl.
Dulce de Leche Churro (by Claire): Creamy dulce de leche ice cream swirled with caramel and chunks of churro for a sweet, dessert-like treat.
Red Velvet Revival (by DJ): Red velvet ice cream featuring chunks of red velvet cake, a swirl of cream cheese icing, and white chocolate shavings.
Vote and Win
Online voting is open until September 25. To cast your vote, visit the Chocolate Shoppe’s website. The winning flavor will be announced on September 27 and will be available at Chocolate Shoppe stores next summer.
Community and Culinary Collaboration
This year, the Chocolate Shoppe is partnering with the TEENworks Culinary Arts program at Madison’s Goodman Community Center. TEENworks provides high school students with hands-on experience in the culinary field, offering training in food safety, sourcing, and recipe development. Participants will assist in running the contest, making the new flavor, and testing recipes.
A Legacy of Flavor
Founded in 1962 by Chuck and Nancy Deadman on Madison’s Monona Drive, Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream has grown from a local favorite to a national presence. With over 100 flavors produced at their manufacturing plant, the company continues to supply independent restaurants and shops across the country.
