Forest Holme Hospice, which provides palliative and end-of-life care to over 1,500 individuals annually across Poole, Wimborne, and the Isle of Purbeck, received an unexpected visit from Ice Cream Bournemouth on October 3. The visit followed a special request from a patient who was craving a sweet treat.
The iconic bright yellow ice-cream van arrived at the hospice, not only fulfilling the patient’s wish but also delivering a generous surprise. Owner Rob, in a random act of kindness, provided complimentary ice cream to all patients, visitors, and staff at the facility.
Paul Tucker, representing the Forest Holme Hospice Charity, expressed the hospice’s gratitude for the gesture. “We are so grateful to Rob at Ice Cream Bournemouth for his generosity. His delicious ice cream was hugely appreciated and put a smile on everyone’s faces,” Tucker said. “For our patient’s best friend to organize such a treat was so lovely, and it’s these gestures that make such a difference, especially during such difficult times.”
The hospice, which cares for people with advanced cancer and other life-limiting illnesses such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s, heart disease, and respiratory illnesses, emphasized the significance of these thoughtful moments for patients and their loved ones.
