The Dairy Store, renowned for its handmade ice cream and prime location at the entrance of East Campus, served as the perfect venue for a recent celebration marking the introduction of a special ice cream flavor dedicated to the new University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) President, Jeffrey Gold.
Hosted by the Nebraska Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the event took place on September 19 and featured university partners and leaders from the dairy industry who supply products to the Dairy Store, which has been a beloved institution since its opening in 1917.
In July, the University of Nebraska Board of Regents appointed Gold as president, following in a cherished tradition of honoring university presidents with unique ice cream flavors. His predecessor, Ted Carter, selected “Carter Coffee Crunch” in 2021, while another former president, Hank Bounds, introduced “Bounds Mississippi Mud” in 2015.
