Hyderabad: JD Lakshminarayana, a retired police officer turned politician, inaugurated Organic Creamery, the first company-owned outlet of Iceberg, India’s premier organic ice cream brand, in Kondapur on the occasion of Dussehra.
During the launch, Lakshminarayana praised Iceberg’s offerings, referring to them as “green ice creams.” He highlighted the brand’s commitment to quality, mentioning that the ice creams are made with high-quality A2 milk, organic butter, organic Dhaga mishri, fresh organic fruits, gondh gum, vegetable-extracted colors, organic cocoa, organic jaggery, and organic stevia. He noted that these ice creams are sweetened with Dhaga mishri and preserved naturally with gondh, extending their shelf life to six months. Furthermore, he revealed that the company has applied for a patent for its unique formulation, calling it a “paradise for ice cream lovers.”
Suhas B. Shetty, the innovative entrepreneur behind the brand, aims to create health-friendly ice creams while providing employment opportunities for 100 individuals directly and an additional 35 indirectly. Lakshminarayana commended Shetty’s efforts, particularly his pioneering initiative of establishing organic solar-powered factories. “He is a job creator, not just a job seeker, and serves as a role model for the youth of this country,” Lakshminarayana remarked.
He encouraged young people to become job creators instead of merely seeking employment, emphasizing the importance of creativity and innovation.
Hailing from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, Lakshminarayana acknowledged the city’s legacy of luminaries, including Potti Sriramulu, who fought for the cause of Andhra Pradesh, former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, acclaimed playback singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam, and Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, founder of Shantha Biotechnics.
Addressing the growing demand for organic products, Lakshminarayana stressed the need for stricter certification processes and more affordable testing labs to encourage the production of organic food.
The Organic Creamery, set up with an investment of INR 70 lakh, offers over 36 flavors, promising that its ice creams are “cold-free,” meaning they won’t cause cold symptoms or throat irritation. Shetty, the 33-year-old founder, highlighted the brand’s unique position as the first from Andhra Pradesh to participate in “Shark Tank India” Season 3.
Among the store’s special offerings are regionally inspired sundaes, such as Begum Ka Bazaar, Hi-Tech Citt’s Gentleman, Purana Pul Ke Miya Bhai, Lakdi-ka-pul-ke Badshah, and Twin Cities Romeo. For example, Begum Ka Bazaar features caramel nuts and Grameen Kulfi topped with dried apricots and dates, drizzled with honey, while Purana Pul Ke Miya Bhai includes jaggery almond ice cream topped with hot caramel fudge and chia seeds.
Iceberg’s menu spans classic flavors like vanilla and butterscotch, along with organic fruit options such as sitaphal, tender coconut, chikoo, and guava. The brand has also introduced innovative flavors, including charcoal, malai khurma, and gulab jamun. Notably, Iceberg was among the early adopters of Keto ice cream and has secured orders from Hrithik Roshan’s co-owned HRX Fitness brand.
