Utica, Ohio — Velvet Ice Cream, a cherished name in the dessert industry with deep Ohio roots, is celebrating the arrival of fall with a selection of new, seasonally inspired treats. Among the highlights are two signature sundaes: the S’mores sundae, crafted from the company’s classic vanilla, and the Pumpkin Dump Cake sundae.
Joanne Dager, Vice President of Velvet Ice Cream and a fourth-generation member of the founding family, expressed her lifelong connection to the brand. “I grew up with it. Every summer, I worked in the ice cream parlor or production room. It was just always a fun thing to do,” she reminisced. As the company marks its 110th anniversary, Dager underscored the significance of tradition and community ties that have been integral to its success.
In an effort to promote its seasonal offerings, Velvet Ice Cream has partnered with local retailers, including Giant Eagle and Safeway, as well as ice cream parlors like Alexander’s on the Square in Noblesville, which features hand-dipped Velvet products. Dager also highlighted the unique pumpkin flavor, made from real pumpkin puree and pie pieces, which reflects the company’s commitment to quality ingredients. Additionally, Velvet Ice Cream is giving back during Breast Cancer Awareness Month with special initiatives.
The company’s showcase also featured festive floats made with peppermint stick ice cream and coffee cold brew, along with a vanilla trio accompanied by orange and cranberry flavors.
Open to the public from May to October, Velvet Ice Cream’s Ye Old Mill in Utica offers visitors a chance to explore its scenic grounds, enjoy lunch, and choose from 40 delectable ice cream flavors. The highlight of the year is the annual Ice Cream Festival, held over Memorial Day weekend, which draws families for live entertainment, delicious food, and local vendors.
