Lost Borough Ice Cream, known for its small-batch, hand-crafted offerings, brings a creative twist to traditional ice cream. With flavors like “Rose with Candied Pecans,” “Yonkers Black-Out,” and “Blueberry Crumb,” alongside more familiar options such as Banana Pudding and Belgian Waffles, the shop offers a wide variety to suit every palate. Whether you’re seeking ice cream, sorbets, vegan options, boba-infused treats, or inventive banana pudding creations, Lost Borough’s ever-evolving menu ensures there’s always something new to enjoy.
The foundation of Lost Borough Ice Cream is built on both cream and creativity. By making their ice cream fresh on-site, they allow for endless possibilities in flavor experimentation.
Patrick Cruz, a Westchester native, began his ice cream journey in 2019 after returning from a trip to Chicago, where a visit to Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream sparked his interest in the craft. Inspired by what he experienced, Cruz started experimenting with flavors in his Yonkers home, combining various ingredients to create something unique.
“I just experimented, coming up with whatever kind of flavors I could,” Cruz explained to Westchester Magazine. “I’d get different ingredients, just to see what worked and what didn’t.”
Teaming up with New Rochelle resident Kawana Jefferson, Cruz launched Lost Borough Ice Cream. The name pays homage to a historic moment in 1898 when Yonkers and Mount Vernon had the opportunity to merge with New York City but opted to remain independent. Cruz believes this decision cemented Yonkers’ status as “the borough lost to time.”
At Lost Borough, the menu is constantly evolving, offering customers new flavor experiences with every visit. Whether you opt for a classic favorite or dare to try something new, every scoop promises to be a treat.
