Humphry Slocombe, a beloved ice cream establishment in San Francisco, will shut the doors of its original shop located at 2790 Harrison Street on October 30. The announcement was made in an email newsletter sent out by the business on Friday.
“Throughout COVID, we were able to keep all of our shops open thanks to the loyalty and support of all of you. We were especially proud of keeping our original shop in the Mission open to continue serving our first neighborhood. However, all things must come to an end,” the email stated.
Founded in 2008 by owners Jake Godby and Sean Vahey in the Mission District, Humphry Slocombe gained a reputation for its inventive ice cream flavors, including the popular Secret Breakfast, which features cornflake cookies and bourbon. The shop is also known for its more unconventional offerings, such as prosciutto and peanut butter curry.
Despite the closure of the original location, nine Humphry Slocombe shops will remain open, including two in San Francisco, as well as locations in the East Bay and on the Peninsula. The ice cream brand also distributes pints at various grocery stores, including Whole Foods.
